9 daysBluetooth: HCI: Add support for LL Extended Feature SetLuiz Augusto von Dentz
This adds support for emulating LL Extended Feature Set introduced in 6.0 that adds the following: Commands: - HCI_LE_Read_All_Local_Supported_Features(0x2087)(Feature:47,1) - HCI_LE_Read_All_Remote_Features(0x2088)(Feature:47,2) Events: - HCI_LE_Read_All_Remote_Features_Complete(0x2b)(Mask bit:42) Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>
9 daysBluetooth: HCI: Always use the identity address when initializing a connectionLuiz Augusto von Dentz
This makes sure hci_conn is initialized with the identity address if a matching IRK exists which avoids the trouble of having to do it at multiple places which seems to be missing (e.g. CIS, BIS and PA). Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>
9 daysBluetooth: ISO: Add support to bind to trigger PASTLuiz Augusto von Dentz
This makes it possible to bind to a different destination address after being connected (BT_CONNECTED, BT_CONNECT2) which then triggers PAST Sender proceedure to transfer the PA Sync to the destination address. Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>
9 daysBluetooth: hci_core: Introduce HCI_CONN_FLAG_PASTLuiz Augusto von Dentz
This introduces a new device flag so userspace can indicate if it wants to enable PAST Receiver for a specific device. Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>
9 daysBluetooth: HCI: Add initial support for PASTLuiz Augusto von Dentz
This adds PAST related commands (HCI_OP_LE_PAST, HCI_OP_LE_PAST_SET_INFO and HCI_OP_LE_PAST_PARAMS) and events (HCI_EV_LE_PAST_RECEIVED) along with handling of PAST sender and receiver features bits including new MGMG settings ( HCI_EV_LE_PAST_RECEIVED and MGMT_SETTING_PAST_RECEIVER) which userspace can use to determine if PAST is supported by the controller. 2025-11-10Bluetooth: hci_conn: Fix not cleaning up PA_LINK connectionsLuiz Augusto von Dentz
Contrary to what was stated on d36349ea73d8 ("Bluetooth: hci_conn: Fix running bis_cleanup for hci_conn->type PA_LINK") the PA_LINK does in fact needs to run bis_cleanup in order to terminate the PA Sync, since that is bond to the listening socket which is the entity that controls the lifetime of PA Sync, so if it is closed/released the PA Sync shall be terminated, terminating the PA Sync shall not result in the BIG Sync being terminated since once the later is established it doesn't depend on the former anymore. If the use user wants to reconnect/rebind a number of BIS(s) it shall keep the socket open until it no longer needs the PA Sync, which means it retains full control of the lifetime of both PA and BIG Syncs. Fixes: d36349ea73d8 ("Bluetooth: hci_conn: Fix running bis_cleanup for hci_conn->type PA_LINK") Fixes: a7bcffc673de ("Bluetooth: Add PA_LINK to distinguish BIG sync and PA sync connections") Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>
2025-10-24Bluetooth: hci_core: Fix tracking of periodic advertisementLuiz Augusto von Dentz
Periodic advertising enabled flag cannot be tracked by the enabled flag since advertising and periodic advertising each can be enabled/disabled separately from one another causing the states to be inconsistent when for example an advertising set is disabled its enabled flag is set to false which is then used for periodic which has not being disabled. 2025-10-24Bluetooth: HCI: Fix tracking of advertisement set/instance 0x00Luiz Augusto von Dentz
This fixes the state tracking of advertisement set/instance 0x00 which is considered a legacy instance and is not tracked individually by adv_instances list, previously it was assumed that hci_dev itself would track it via HCI_LE_ADV but that is a global state not specifc to instance 0x00, so to fix it a new flag is introduced that only tracks the state of instance 0x00. 2025-10-24Bluetooth: hci_sync: fix race in hci_cmd_sync_dequeue_onceCen Zhang
hci_cmd_sync_dequeue_once() does lookup and then cancel the entry under two separate lock sections. Meanwhile, hci_cmd_sync_work() can also delete the same entry, leading to double list_del() and "UAF". Fix this by holding cmd_sync_work_lock across both lookup and cancel, so that the entry cannot be removed concurrently. 2025-09-27Bluetooth: hci_sync: Fix using random address for BIG/PA advertisementsLuiz Augusto von Dentz
When creating an advertisement for BIG the address shall not be non-resolvable since in case of acting as BASS/Broadcast Assistant the address must be the same as the connection in order to use the PAST method and even when PAST/BASS are not in the picture a Periodic Advertisement can still be synchronized thus the same argument as to connectable advertisements still stand. hci_resume_advertising_sync is suppose to resume all instance paused by hci_pause_advertising_sync, this logic is used for procedures are only allowed when not advertising, but instance 0x00 was not being re-enabled. 2025-08-22Bluetooth: hci_sync: fix set_local_name race conditionPavel Shpakovskiy
Function set_name_sync() uses hdev->dev_name field to send HCI_OP_WRITE_LOCAL_NAME command, but copying from data to hdev->dev_name is called after mgmt cmd was queued, so it is possible that function set_name_sync() will read old name value. This change adds name as a parameter for function hci_update_name_sync() to avoid race condition. 2025-07-16Bluetooth: hci_sync: fix connectable extended advertising when using static ↵Alessandro Gasbarroni
random address Currently, the connectable flag used by the setup of an extended advertising instance drives whether we require privacy when trying to pass a random address to the advertising parameters (Own Address). If privacy is not required, then it automatically falls back to using the controller's public address. This can cause problems when using controllers that do not have a public address set, but instead use a static random address. e.g. Assume a BLE controller that does not have a public address set. The controller upon powering is set with a random static address by default by the kernel. < HCI Command: LE Set Random Address (0x08|0x0005) plen 6 Address: E4:AF:26:D8:3E:3A (Static) > HCI Event: Command Complete (0x0e) plen 4 LE Set Random Address (0x08|0x0005) ncmd 1 Status: Success (0x00) Setting non-connectable extended advertisement parameters in bluetoothctl mgmt add-ext-adv-params -r 0x801 -x 0x802 -P 2M -g 1 correctly sets Own address type as Random < HCI Command: LE Set Extended Advertising Parameters (0x08|0x0036) plen 25 ... Own address type: Random (0x01) Setting connectable extended advertisement parameters in bluetoothctl mgmt add-ext-adv-params -r 0x801 -x 0x802 -P 2M -g -c 1 mistakenly sets Own address type to Public (which causes to use Public Address 00:00:00:00:00:00) < HCI Command: LE Set Extended Advertising Parameters (0x08|0x0036) plen 25 ... Own address type: Public (0x00) This causes either the controller to emit an Invalid Parameters error or to mishandle the advertising. This patch makes sure that we use the already set static random address when requesting a connectable extended advertising when we don't require privacy and our public address is not set (00:00:00:00:00:00). 2025-06-27Bluetooth: HCI: Set extended advertising data synchronouslyChristian Eggers
Currently, for controllers with extended advertising, the advertising data is set in the asynchronous response handler for extended adverstising params. As most advertising settings are performed in a synchronous context, the (asynchronous) setting of the advertising data is done too late (after enabling the advertising). Move setting of adverstising data from asynchronous response handler into synchronous context to fix ordering of HCI commands. 2025-05-21Bluetooth: separate CIS_LINK and BIS_LINK link typesPauli Virtanen
Use separate link type id for unicast and broadcast ISO connections. These connection types are handled with separate HCI commands, socket API is different, and hci_conn has union fields that are different in the two cases, so they shall not be mixed up. Currently in most places it is attempted to distinguish ucast by bacmp(&c->dst, BDADDR_ANY) but it is wrong as dst is set for bcast sink hci_conn in iso_conn_ready(). Additionally checking sync_handle might be OK, but depends on details of bcast conn configuration flow. To avoid complicating it, use separate link types. 2025-03-25Bluetooth: MGMT: convert timeouts to secs_to_jiffies()Easwar Hariharan
Commit b35108a51cf7 ("jiffies: Define secs_to_jiffies()") introduced secs_to_jiffies(). As the value here is a multiple of 1000, use secs_to_jiffies() instead of msecs_to_jiffies to avoid the multiplication. This is converted using scripts/coccinelle/misc/secs_to_jiffies.cocci with the following Coccinelle rules: @depends on patch@ expression E; @@ -msecs_to_jiffies(E * 1000) +secs_to_jiffies(E) -msecs_to_jiffies(E * MSEC_PER_SEC) +secs_to_jiffies(E) Signed-off-by: Easwar Hariharan <eahariha@linux.microsoft.com> Signed-off-by: Luiz Augusto von Dentz <luiz.von.dentz@intel.com>

2024-10-30Bluetooth: hci: fix null-ptr-deref in hci_read_supported_codecsSungwoo Kim
Fix __hci_cmd_sync_sk() to return not NULL for unknown opcodes. __hci_cmd_sync_sk() returns NULL if a command returns a status event. However, it also returns NULL where an opcode doesn't exist in the hci_cc table because hci_cmd_complete_evt() assumes status = skb->data[0] for unknown opcodes. This leads to null-ptr-deref in cmd_sync for HCI_OP_READ_LOCAL_CODECS as there is no hci_cc for HCI_OP_READ_LOCAL_CODECS, which always assumes status = skb->data[0].
