2025-11-18selftests/bpf: Move common TCP helpers into bpf_tracing_net.hHoyeon Lee
Some BPF selftests contain identical copies of the min(), max(), before(), and after() helpers. These repeated snippets are the same across the tests and do not need to be defined separately. Move these helpers into bpf_tracing_net.h so they can be shared by TCP related BPF programs. This removes repeated code and keeps the helpers in a single place. 2024-05-09selftests/bpf: Use bpf_tracing_net.h in bpf_cubicMartin KaFai Lau
This patch uses bpf_tracing_net.h (i.e. vmlinux.h) in bpf_cubic. This will allow to retire the bpf_tcp_helpers.h and consolidate tcp-cc tests to vmlinux.h. 2024-05-09selftests/bpf: Rename tcp-cc private struct in bpf_cubic and bpf_dctcpMartin KaFai Lau
The "struct bictcp" and "struct dctcp" are private to the bpf prog and they are stored in the private buffer in inet_csk(sk)->icsk_ca_priv. Hence, there is no bpf CO-RE required. The same struct name exists in the vmlinux.h. To reuse vmlinux.h, they need to be renamed such that the bpf prog logic will be immuned from the kernel tcp-cc changes. This patch adds a "bpf_" prefix to them. 2024-05-09selftests/bpf: Sanitize the SEC and inline usages in the bpf-tcp-cc testsMartin KaFai Lau
It is needed to remove the BPF_STRUCT_OPS usages from the tcp-cc tests because it is defined in bpf_tcp_helpers.h which is going to be retired. While at it, this patch consolidates all tcp-cc struct_ops programs to use the SEC("struct_ops") + BPF_PROG(). It also removes the unnecessary __always_inline usages from the tcp-cc tests. 2023-09-19selftests/bpf: Check bpf_cubic_acked() is called via struct_opsSong Liu
Test bpf_tcp_ca (in test_progs) checks multiple tcp_congestion_ops. However, there isn't a test that verifies functions in the tcp_congestion_ops is actually called. Add a check to verify that bpf_cubic_acked is actually called during the test. 2021-09-14selftests/bpf: Update selftests to always provide "struct_ops" SECAndrii Nakryiko
Update struct_ops selftests to always specify "struct_ops" section prefix. Libbpf will require a proper BPF program type set in the next patch, so this prevents tests breaking. 2021-03-26bpf: selftests: Bpf_cubic and bpf_dctcp calling kernel functionsMartin KaFai Lau
This patch removes the bpf implementation of tcp_slow_start() and tcp_cong_avoid_ai(). Instead, it directly uses the kernel implementation. It also replaces the bpf_cubic_undo_cwnd implementation by directly calling tcp_reno_undo_cwnd(). bpf_dctcp also directly calls tcp_reno_cong_avoid() instead. 2020-09-25bpf: selftest: Remove enum tcp_ca_state from bpf_tcp_helpers.hMartin KaFai Lau
The enum tcp_ca_state is available in <linux/tcp.h>. Remove it from the bpf_tcp_helpers.h to avoid conflict when the bpf prog needs to include both both <linux/tcp.h> and bpf_tcp_helpers.h. Modify the bpf_cubic.c and bpf_dctcp.c to use <linux/tcp.h> instead. The <linux/stddef.h> is needed by <linux/tcp.h>. 2020-06-25bpf: tcp: bpf_cubic: fix spurious HYSTART_DELAY exit upon drop in min RTTNeal Cardwell
Apply the fix from: "tcp_cubic: fix spurious HYSTART_DELAY exit upon drop in min RTT" to the BPF implementation of TCP CUBIC congestion control. Repeating the commit description here for completeness: Mirja Kuehlewind reported a bug in Linux TCP CUBIC Hystart, where Hystart HYSTART_DELAY mechanism can exit Slow Start spuriously on an ACK when the minimum rtt of a connection goes down. From inspection it is clear from the existing code that this could happen in an example like the following: o The first 8 RTT samples in a round trip are 150ms, resulting in a curr_rtt of 150ms and a delay_min of 150ms. o The 9th RTT sample is 100ms. The curr_rtt does not change after the first 8 samples, so curr_rtt remains 150ms. But delay_min can be lowered at any time, so delay_min falls to 100ms. The code executes the HYSTART_DELAY comparison between curr_rtt of 150ms and delay_min of 100ms, and the curr_rtt is declared far enough above delay_min to force a (spurious) exit of Slow start. The fix here is simple: allow every RTT sample in a round trip to lower the curr_rtt. 2020-01-22bpf: tcp: Add bpf_cubic exampleMartin KaFai Lau
This patch adds a bpf_cubic example. Some highlights: 1. CONFIG_HZ .kconfig map is used. 2. In bictcp_update(), calculation is changed to use usec resolution (i.e. USEC_PER_JIFFY) instead of using jiffies. Thus, usecs_to_jiffies() is not used in the bpf_cubic.c. 3. In bitctcp_update() [under tcp_friendliness], the original "while (ca->ack_cnt > delta)" loop is changed to the equivalent "ca->ack_cnt / delta" operation.
